Langley Women of Excellence Awards Program

The Langley Times and the Langley Daytime Chapter of the Valley Women’s Network are proud to announce they are currently collecting nominations for the 2008 Women of Excellence Awards.

Through the past decade of these awards, the people of Langley have selected and saluted more than 200 very special women from our community.

If you know a woman of vision, inspiration or esteem, please download our nomination form. We are looking for outstanding women in the following categories; Arts & Culture, Women of Vision, Employee of the Year, Community or Humanitarian Service, Sports & Recreation and Woman of the Year.

The selection criteria is available here. Please download and review prior to submitting nominations. Nominations must be delivered or faxed to the Langley Times, attention Jean Hincks. Address and Fax number are listed on the nomination form available here. Submission deadline is March 7th, 2008.

The 2008 awards will be head on April 9. Many of Langley’s shining stars will be there to share this special evening with us and celebrate the achievements of the women of Langley. We hope you will be there, too!

2008 Bursary

The Women of Excellence is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for a $1500.00 Bursary*. Applicants are responsible for obtaining, fully completing and submitting the 2008 Women of Excellence Bursary form before the deadline date.

To fully qualify for this bursary, the applicant must qualify for the below criteria.

1. Be a female student of the Langley School District
2. Be a resident of the City of Langley/Township of Langley
3. Have satisfactory academic achievement
4. Have a genuine financial need
5. Be of 16-19 years of age or a graduating senior

To be considered for this bursary, submit a 500 word essay which you must demonstrate either the desire to take a number of postsecondary studies leading to a degree, certificate or diploma training courses that teach practical, applied skills that are pivotal to business success or a sound business idea supported by some necessary business skills, along with your own determination to make it happen.

You are also required to provide reasonable verification about your genuine need for this bursary.

A general characher reference or letter of endorsement must be submitted with your application from three different acquaintances such as your teacher, coach, employer doctor or neighbor.

This bursary will be paid directly to the chosen recipient.
Deadline for submissions is February 29, 2008.
